PICK YOUR OWN FRUIT
Say hello to a farmer! Berries in spring and summer, and apples, field tomatoes and pumpkins in the fall. Check out Moore Orchards and Lovshin Family Fresh Produce Farm. In the holiday season, you can cut your own Christmas tree at Barrett’s Tree Farm.

EAT BUTTER TARTS
What’s not to love about a sugar high this good? Cobourg’s Dutch Oven and Burnham Family Farm Market are two of the popular stops along the Kawarthas Northumberland Butter Tart Tour, Ontario’s biggest self-guided, year-round butter tart tour.

LOOK FOR BUGS AND BUTTERFLIES
Cobourg Ecology Garden at the end of Hibernia Street is the perfect spot for bird-watching and crouching down to look for bugs. Native plants and flowers are tended by passionate organic gardeners.

COME SEE THE BOATS
On the waterfront trail, you can walk along the boardwalk from the beach to the Cobourg Marina, considered one of the best on Lake Ontario. Cobourg has always been a popular spot for boaters from Montreal along the St. Lawrence, and Rochester, New York across the lake. A car ferry connected Rochester to Cobourg from 1905 to 1950, and American tourists came in droves for summer sun, yacht races and pavilion dances in Victoria Park. Now the Cobourg Yacht Club hosts boating events and offers sailing lessons.
Best Catch: Salmon top the scales, with some reaching well over 30 pounds. Ask about guides and fishing charters.

Still Wondering What To Do?

WHAT TO DO
Stroll, shop, then get to the spa! Admire the lovely gardens and tree-lined streets of Cobourg, an Ontario Communities in Bloom 2016 award-winner. Shop for vintage and reclaimed treasures at Legacy Vintage Building Materials & Antiques. Owner Sven Kraumanis “picks the bones” of buildings slated for demolition. A favourite stop for film and TV props. Have a facial or mani-pedi at Mystic Roots or City Streaks, both Aveda concept salons in town, for a little indulgence.

NAMASTE AWAY
You’ll have a view of the lake and your own private beach at Breakers on the Lake. Or enjoy the century-home charm of Twin Maples by the Lake bed and breakfast. Cinnamon French Toast Bake with Walnuts, anyone?

WHAT TO EAT
Sample the tapas plates, perfect for sharing, at El Camino, or go full gourmand with Chef Andrew Stewart’s enticing three-course tasting menu at Oasis.
