New Years Eve
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Cobourg’s First Night celebration with outdoor skating, horse and wagon rides, and fireworks over the harbour at 9 p.m. at Rotary Harbourfront Park. Other events happening throughout the day include the Kids New Year’s Eve Lunch Party, the Cucina & Crock-a-Doodle Lunch or Dinner Package, the Coup De Ville dinner and dance at the Lions Centre, the NYE Party with DJ Joel Wesley at Arthur's Pub, and Operation Red Nose is offering safe rides home.
Holiday Camp
Keep kids active, social, and smiling this holiday season a Holiday Day Camp at the Cobourg Y. Running January 2, 2026, for ages 5–12, with regular hours from 8 AM–5 PM and optional extended care. Each day includes outdoor play, swim time, gym activities, and time in the play centre. Cost is $44 per day ($42 for members). Spaces are limited, so be sure to book early.
New Years Levee
Celebrate the New Year at Victoria Hall Concert Hall with the New Year's Levee 2 - 4 pm on Saturday, January 3! Enjoy family-friendly activities, live music, tasty appetizers and desserts, and a special speech from the Mayor.
Try Curling: Littlerock's and Jr’s at WNCC
Kids and teens can try curling at the West Northumberland Curling Club (WNCC) with Littlerocks and Jr’s! Sessions run Sundays from 12–2 PM, with upcoming dates on January 4, 11, 18, 25 (and February 1 and 8). Registration is open—visit WNCC.ca to sign up and introduce your young athletes to the fun and excitement of curling.
Mayor & Council FREE Community Skate
Dickens Walk
Step into the pages of Charles Dickens with this whimsical and nostalgic walk through Downtown Cobourg. Lantern light, Victorian characters, storytelling, and old-fashioned holiday spirit bring the streets to life. Held on December 5, 6, 12 and 13, this community favourite blends history and magic into an unforgettable evening stroll and learning about Dickens and the buildings of Cobourg from 1842. Hot cider and snacks available before or after your walk. Tickets $10. Walk begins at the Cobourg & Area Museum, 141 Orr Street.
Broadsway: the Most Wonderful Time... Maybe - a Holiday Show!
Four of Canada’s finest musical theatre, jazz, and cabaret artists doing the music of Broadway - and the Holidays - their way and delighting audiences in the process!
Featuring Dora Mavor Moore, Diane Leah, Heather Bambrick, Julie Michels, and Kylie Martin, BROADSWAY combines musical theatre and humour in a way you've never seen or heard before. Their Holiday show, The Most Wonderful Time … Maybe, celebrates the season with an evening of Yuletide classics and lesser-known seasonal gems, all put together in unique arrangements with tons of musicality and humour. This is A Loft Production.
Woodburning Ornament Workshop
A free drop-in woodburning ornament workshop will be held at Fabled Bean on Saturday, December 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., led by local artist Court O’Reilly of Hippie North. Participants can create their own wooden ornament, enjoy a cozy drink, and optionally donate to the Northumberland Humane Society for a chance to win a custom woodburned pet portrait.
Rockstalgia Christmas Jam and Food & Toy Drive
Rockstalgia, 2BFair, and Tuscan Wolf Pizzeria are hosting a festive afternoon on Sunday, December 14 from 1-4 pm. Enjoy live music, holiday cheer, and community support, complete with performances by local musicians in their best ugly Christmas sweaters. Dive into delicious pizza while supporting the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank and consider bringing an unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item to help local families this season.
First Night in Cobourg - a New Year's Eve Tradition
First Night Cobourg returns on Wednesday, December 31, offering a free, family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration with outdoor skating, music, horse-drawn wagon rides, and festive lights throughout Victoria Park and the waterfront. The evening ends with a fireworks countdown, bringing the community together to welcome 2026 in a joyful winter setting.
